SEAN BUTLER: Sean Butler joined the board of management last October. After I asked him to join, he took two weeks to decide, he had to be sure that he could give it the time needed to do the job right and that we would do things his way. Sean and Liam work closely together to streamline the schools finances and they are now in excellent order. Sean was working on producing a budget for the new school year starting in September, his objective was to know how much money we were taking in and how much we were going to spend throughout the year so as that we would have sufficient funds for all eventualities and to support the teachers in maintaining the standards of excellence in the school. Sean believed we all had social responsibilities, and he honoured his fully, not only by working in the school but also by his tireless work for the homeless in Drogheda, where he was vice chairperson and treasurer. Sean would spend most Fridays in the homeless centre where he would attend meetings and organise the finances, support the staff and talk to the homeless or play snooker with them or help in whatever way he could. Sean was a good conversationalist and a great listener. He loved the good things in life - travel, Cuban cigars, expensive wines, good food, Munster rugby and the sea. He enjoyed his work with the school and he brought a practical attitude to the day to day problems which were discussed at the board of management meetings, he got great pleasure and satisfaction reading the last year school year book which gave him an insight into the daily life of the school. Sean was a very good friend and neighbour and through himself and Martina we met all our other neighbours and throughout the parties they both organised. We will sorely miss him and our loss is tiny compared ot that of his wife Martina and his family. The best way we can honour Sean's work for the school is to continue with the standards he set, to complete our budget for our new school year and to make sure that we don’t deviate from his procedures. We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Martina and his family and thank them for all the excellent work that Sean did for the school. Diarmuid Everard, Board Chairperson
